About
I am a passionate practical student who likes to create pieces that reflect self expression,
individuality and confidence. Over time, I find that manufacturing and producing
outcomes is my main strength going through this journey as it brings my designs to life
while maintaining quality, functionality and attention to detail throughout the production
process. Being surrounded by rich culture and strong values has inspired me to express
authenticity within my work. I look forward to improve and evolve my style when joining
the industry.
Project overview
Bahala ka sa buhay mo
Bahala ka sa buhay mo in Tagalog/Filipino is a common passive aggressive phrase telling someone to do whatever they want in their life with a middle ground of freedom and indifference as it is not purely positive or negative depending on tone. The concept fuses Filipino traditional aesthetic with 2000’s grunge streetwear, aiming to create a unisex and sustainable reinterpretation of cultural identity as I also bring men and womenswear together to create a genderless approach, emphasizing individuality as well as versatility. Inspired by the independent brand Minga London, how they intertwine streetwear and cyberigilism will help in creating designs which integrates traditional silhouettes, edgy streetwear elements and sportswear utility too. Sustainability will play a huge part within the concept as a key fabric will be pina, which is a fibre made from pineapple leaves, the material is eco friendly as the leaves are usually discarded in pineapple farming. This combines Filipino agricultural resources with sustainability. To establish a contemporary vision, the concept incorporates rebellious quirks in the Y2K era and pays homage to Filipino craftsmanship and identity.
